What is Casein Protein, and why are you putting it in cookies?
Im sure you’re asking yourself what the heck is casein and why is she putting it in a cookie?! Casein is a dairy-based protein that is rich in BCAAs (branch chain amino acids) which help with muscle repair and recovery. Casein is a slow digesting protein that takes anywhere from 3 to 4 hours to reach its peak of protein synthesis. Protein synthesis is the process of creating protein molecules in your body, after a depletion has occurred. Since casein is a slow digesting protein it is best consumed before bed or before a long day of being active with not much time to eat. This protein helps aid in fat loss because the slow release of amino acids makes you fuller longer and has a higher calcium content.
Protein Cookies, a solid choice for a late night dessert.
Which then leads to the highlight and purpose of these cookies…YOU EAT THEM FOR DESERT BEOFORE BED! Or if you’re like me you sneak one in during the day HAHA. This allows you to stay on that path of slow digesting protein to take advantage of all the benefits it has while still curbing your sweet tooth with an easy and quick recipe! This is a recipe the whole family will LOVE! It’s a great guilty pleasure to have in the house so you do not have to fight the temptation of eating the Oreos in the pantry that the kids won’t let you leave the grocery store without getting. You can have 1 or 5 of these and not regret it after the fact.
