IT’S THAT TIME AGAIN FRIENDS! Prep time! I am so excited to share this journey with you and document it all along the way!
For those of you who don’t know, I competed in my first Bodybuilding Bikini Competition in March of 2022. I took first place in my class, which gave me my ticket to nationals to compete for my PRO Card. A Pro Card in Competitions is essentially a “PRO” level in the sport.
My first go around with competition and prep leading up to my competition was really just finding myself, navigating through this new path in life and really just pushing myself and seeing what I was truly capable of. It was MY TIME to focus on ME and my accomplishments. I documented a few things here and there, but definitely not as much as I intended too.
This time around it’s going to be DIFFERENT! I know what to expect in prep and the competition in general! In no way am I a seasoned vet, it’s still only my second show and every prep/show is different! However, I have a better understanding of what to expect physically and emotionally this time, and now I have the ability to truly open up and share my experiences! I want to bring you along to give you an insight on what a day/week for me looks like in prep and really share my emotions and thought process through it all. It can be a very wild but rewarding ride! I get so many questions and so many people interested in this part of my life, why not expand that and take you on the journey with me!
Please do keep in mind that everything that I am and will be sharing is my opinion and reaction to this. Everyone’s body is different and everyone has a different mindset/mentality. So, I am sharing my experiences but by no means am I saying this is how it will be for ANYONE & EVERYONE who is considering competing!
My show date is November 5th, 2022. The 12-week mark has arrived, which means its GAME TIME BABBBBY! Week 1 of prep is in full swing! I will be honest, for me personally, the first week is just getting into the swing of things. No more eating out (fast food), more consistency in cardio, and getting back into timing my meals. All fundamental things for me in the first week!
My workout routine is staying the same for the time being. I have dialed in my nutrition and I am following macronutrients given to me by my trainer. As the weeks progress, things will change more but with it being week one, things have not changed drastically.
All in all, being a competitor is not easy, it takes a lot of dedication and love for the sport. I always get asked, “how are you so motivated?” My answer is always… I’M NOT. I don’t like waking up early in the morning to go to the gym, but once I am there I feel AMAZING! I don’t WANT to limit myself on what I should and should not eat, but I’m fueling my body with nutrient dense foods. I’m not MOTIVATED, I’m DEDICATED to this sport and achieving my goal of getting my Pro Card!
